Spiritual Significance of Sharad Purnima
Today is Sharad Purnima. Hence today, let’s explore the spiritual significance of Sharad Purnima!
On this day, the moon is closest to the Earth 🌎, hence looks very bright & beautiful… Similarly, let’s inculcate the inner beauty of virtues, which automatically reflects through a sparkling smiling face!
Spiritual Significance
Dudh Poha
Today, we eat Dudh Poha (i.e., a sweet dish made of milk, sugar & rice flakes), every ingredient being white in color… Hence, when we become pure white from within, we automatically become very sweet like Dudh Poha!
Indeed, like Dudh Poha cools the digestive fire in the stomach… Our sweetness heals people from the fire of stress, worries & sorrow!
It’s usually eaten together with everyone… Hence, denoting the virtues of unity, co-operation & love!
Keeping food below the moon on this day is believed to confer it healing properties… Hence, let’s remain in company of the Supreme Moon God, the Ocean of Coolness, to become full of spiritual health (thereby, emotional & physical health too!)
Other Practices
We play Raas Garba (a very harmonious dance) on this day… Hence, adjusting with everyone’s sanskars, to enjoy harmonious relationships with all!
Charity is also performed on this day… Hence, let’s keep giving to all through our elevated vibrations, sparkling face & royal behavior!
Many feed small girls kheer on this day… Hence, denoting the virtues of purity & sweetness!
Traditional folklore
The story behind this festival mentions how a lady stopped doing a fast on this day, due to which her children would be born dead, & a touch by a fasting lady revived them… We can interpret it such that, even every thought we create are like our children… Hence to ensure the pure elevated thoughts we create bear fruit, we need the pledge (Vrat) of determination!
It comes between the festivals of Navratri & Diwali… Hence, when we remain happy always (i.e., the dance of the mind), we automatically become instrumental in creating the new world (Diwali)!
Conclusion (Spiritual Significance of Sharad Purnima)
Hence today, let’s connect to the Supreme Moon God to get filled with His divine energy of purity, peace, love & joy; making our every thought powerful & beneficial… Making it natural to adjust, & keep giving to all always, with a lot of sweetness… Thereby, also becoming instrumental in creating the divine land Satyuga once again!
Om Shanti!
